930-949 Chinese Invent Print from Woodblocks
This twenty year period covers the reign of King Athelstan
(King Alfred's grandson) and, at a time when the Chinese had developed the art
of printing from woodblocks, western civilization was stagnant and full of
petty intrigue, rivalry and dastardly murders.
King Athelstan died in 939 and was succeeded by his half-brother Edmund who was murdered in 946 and Edmund's younger brother, Eldred, then became King of England.
